Anyone know where to buy Drake's coffee cake around Davis? I'm supposed to pick some up for an out-of-state friend. I walked down Highland and none of the party stores had it.

Well, I've seen them in any large grocery store chain I've ever been to. Those little coffee cakes are awesome! Stop & Shop, Price Chopper, Market Basket, etc are all places where I've seen them.

Are you referring to iParty? I think there used to be one in Assembly Square, but now the closest one is in Meadow Glen Mall in Medford. I've never seen any similar store on Highland Ave.

So you'd buy coffee cakes, booze, wrapping paper, and costumes, all at the same place?

not all over the midwest...

More like Michigan-an. We don't call them party stores in Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Missouri, or Oklahoma.

But that's just the little slice of the Midwest from which I might reasonably be said to hail.

I was going to say the same. In Ohio, they tended to be called "package stores" much more often than "party stores". However, in Kentucky (especially around Lexington), there are quite a few that are called "party stores"... go figure. :-/

I'm from Ohio and have never, ever heard a liquor store called a "party store".

Have you ever been to a grocery store or supermarket? They sell food there. Do you do all your food shopping in Party stores or Liquor stores?
