Marathon runner supporting Somerville charity

My friend Laura is running in the Boston Marathon to support RESPOND, a Somerville-based domestic violence agency. Founded in 1974, RESPOND’s mission is to help women and their children create options for a life free from domestic violence and to further the efforts of the larger community to end domestic violence. They strive to empower women and encourage them to trust themselves to take responsibility for their lives. Learn more at RESPOND's Web site.

RESPOND is a wonderful agency. If you prefer music to marathons, you can attend an International Interfaith Concert to benefit RESPOND at First Congregational Church, 89 College Avenue (3 blocks from Davis Square) on Sunday, April 6, at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30). The concert is sponsored by Congregation B’nai Brith, Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church, First Congregational Church of Somerville and the Muslim American Society. Suggested donation for tickets is $10 to $20.
