Howdy all. Anyone been to the Good Food Cafe? It's at 2378 Mass Ave right outside Davis Square. A highschool classmate of mine owns it but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. It has some great Yelp reviews which say it has great food and free wifi.

Anyway, I wanted to help spread the word that there's some free live music there this Friday night:

"A great local band, The Wicked Pickers, will be playing at the cafe on Friday, March 28th. They describe themselves as hillbilly jazz and feature guitar, mandolin, electric violin and fretless bass. The have some songs you can listen to on thier website, www.wickedpickers.com It should be lots of fun. Hope to see you there!"

Just wanted to help spread the word for what appears to be a fine locally owned business. :)

I've got to check this place out. Did you see the advertisements they scattered around the xkcd meetup last year?

I lived around the corner over the summer - it's quite tasty. It always *seems* to be empty'ish simply because it has so much space, so the folks who are in there don't seem to be too many.

Oooh, that looks nice! It must be sort of near Pemberton Market, right?

it's much further down - closer to NCL and in the same block as Hana Sushi

More particularly, it is on the block between Alberta and Norris.

They make yummy sandwiches and smoothies. I sometimes pick up dinner from there when I'm in that area.

I'm less a fan of the smoothies, but that may just be me. They make a kickass reuben.

Leah, do they have live music regularly, or is this a one-time special event?

I think that they'd have to get an entertainment license to have a scheduled music series.

Which I hope they will--it's a big space with yummy food and room for lots of seats!

I love this place! Whenever someone asks to meet with me, I always suggest breakfast or lunch at GFC!

Would you call it kid-friendly?

I would think they are kid friendly. The place is very spacious.

Hi Joan,

Well, perhaps kid-friendly to a point. My 4 yo daughter is a bit picky. For example, last time we lunched there, she would only eat the turkey from the turkey-cranberry sauce sandwich I ordered. Breakfast sandwiches are good; they have smoothies but I haven't tried them yet. You can check the GFC website for its menu: jimsgoodfood.com.

There are two high chairs there, but no changing table in the restroom! Bring your own thingys to entertain the little ones; I noticed only 1-2 toys (best suited for infants) on the counter. But the interior is very inviting (great wall color and accents) and spacious.

It's right across from where I live and has become my favorite spot to get a morning smoothie and a breakfast sandwich! Yum!

Their "roasted red pepper, fresh mozzarella, and pesto" is one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Honestly. It's damn near perfect.

I hear their turkey and stuffing sandwich is fantastic, too.

To anyone who has eaten at both Good Food and Grand Prix -- how does the food compare?

I concur on all points - Good Food is right around the corner from me, and I've never had a bad meal. I would definitely reccomend:

-egg, prosciutto, and cheese breakfast sandwich
-nutella latte
-chicken pesto sandwich
-ANY sandwich with the spicy mayo

also, free wireless!
