There are currently neighborhood-wide power fluctuations occurring in North Cambridge, near Mass Ave/Rindge Avenue. There are also a number of fire and emergency trucks at the end of Rice St, all of which just went speeding up the wrong way on it.

Anyone know what's happening? I had hoped it was the zombie apocalypse, but nobody else is arming themselves with katana and going outside yet, so Livejournal is the next rational place to look.

Apparently, there were two fires in the area - one at Frank's Steakhouse, another at an unspecified church - that knocked out the power for much of Cambridge.

Church? Fires? I'm sharpening the swords.

Unclear, Ron - I was given the information by NStar when I called back to get an update. Vineyard is close enough to me that I suspect I'd have seen the fire trucks had it been damaged, and I did not observe them out that way when I went to see what happened at Frank's.

The situation seemed to have been resolved around 9:45pm.
