The latest e-mail update from McIntyre & Moore:
McIntyre & Moore Booksellers' Davis Square store is closed as of 8:00 PM Saturday, March 29, for our move to 1971 Mass. Ave. in Porter Square, Cambridge.
We hope to be open in Porter by the weekend of April 5th and 6th, but we won't know the exact opening date more than a day or two in advance, possibly not until the day itself. It'll be a "soft" opening, as ours have always been. Possibly there won't be much more than a thousand books on the shelves the first day, but we'll have many thousands pre-priced, so we'll be able to increase the stock as fast as we can shelve books.
For our customers for cookbooks and children's books, we know you must be frustrated by the fact that we've been all but sold out of both for so long, but we've made some purchases that insure we'll be strong in both in the Porter Square store right away. Possibly that won't be true on the very first day, depending on our success in dealing with the chaos our move is bound to cause, but we do now own lots of good books in both subjects.
The breadth, depth, and quality of our scholarly books shouldn't change at all. If anything the somewhat smaller space might force us to be even a little more selective, but we don't have any intention of becoming in any sense "precious."
More exact information will follow when we have it. We're excited about our new location, and we'll look forward to seeing you there.
