Pieces of Rt. 16 missing
Apr. 15th, 2008 07:18 pmOK, did anybody else drive on the parkway and notice pieces of the pavement missing? I mean, not the usual potholes.
In the Matignon-Broadway area, in the right lane going eastbound, there's a couple places where somebody cut squares of asphalt out from around the sewer drains. Surprised that I didn't lose a tire or break an axle. There isn't a lot of room to maneuver in those narrow lanes, especially with the way people insist on being neck-and-neck with you on that road.
So please, people, watch out for these.

Date: 2008-04-16 03:23 am (UTC)Have you called 311 about this? Because it is a city project, and it should be flagged/coned.

Sewer and drain maintenance is a city function, even on state roads.

Date: 2008-04-17 12:58 pm (UTC)I think the parkways are maintained by DCR (what used to be the MDC "Central Services"), and not Mass Highway. Though it looks like Mass Highway plows part of Alewife during the winter: http://www.mass.gov/dcr/winterstormplan.htm
Anyway that's interesting about the sewer drains being maintained by the city.

Date: 2008-04-16 02:01 pm (UTC)I had to choose between nearly hitting the car to my left or driving into the pit and ruining my car's right front tire so I took my chances with the car. The orange cone in the second pit was lying on its side and not visible until I was on top of it.
