I was wondering if anyone has recently moved and has boxes laying around. I do not mind purchasing them if they are in great condition. I am moving to Indiana soon and need the kind of boxes that the moving company will use.

Thank you!!!!!

I don't have many boxes, but I do have a couple of garbage bags full of packing peanuts if you need those. I'd love to get rid of them.

I don't have any boxes to give up, but I know some people who have gotten boxes from Shaws and/or Stop and Shop. I'm pretty sure they got them for free--since the supermarkets would just be throwing them away. Might be a good bet. :)

thanks for the tip, I'll call them.

I got most of my boxes when I moved from Downtown Wine and Spirits. I looked like a lush, but the boxes were sturdy and clean.

I have about a dozen boxes and a huge stack of clean newsprint that was used to wrap all the breakables in my recent move. I'm near Highland & Cedar, east of Davis sq. email me (http://bolson.org/email.html)

I would guess that it wouldn't be a problem as long as you cover up any old shipping information. Good luck!

If you have trouble finding used boxes locally (which you shouldn't, really) you can always try www.usedcardboardboxes.com. You can order boxes in specific sizes. It's good if you want to keep your sizes consistent for easier stacking!

I'm surprised no one has suggested this yet, but liquor stores are you friend! Boxes that liquor comes in are strong, and a reasonable size (perfect for books)

And they usually have TONS of empty boxes just sitting out back. Go in and ask.

+ 1. The boxes are strong enough to hold weight and just the right size so as not to allow over weighting. It's a shame you didn't post this on Sunday, as I had 7 or 8 that I broke down for recycling on Monday.

if you can travel, Pandemonium Books almost always has lots and lots of boxes; we take them to recycling once a month or so. Call to make sure they didn't just go, otherwise there's usually tonnes.

The Million Year Picnic in Harvard Square ([livejournal.com profile] millionyear) always has a huge pile of boxes sitting out in the hallway. Sometimes we leave garbage bags full of packing paper out there too.

No need to ask for permission or check in advance. The stack is pretty much perpetual.

I used to work at Ten Thousand Villages in Brookline at we had two million boxes in the basement. We used to give them away for free, so give them a call. The Ten Thousand Villages in Cambridge used to just throw the boxes away :( but they may have changed their ways so you could try them as well. Alternatively, if you go around the back of the Tufts Buildings at the end of the day there will probably be a lot of broken down boxes stacked by dumpsters.

a bit late

Hey! I was browsing on google and found that you mentioned usedcardboardboxes.com.

Just wanted to say that I've ordered from their site before and the process was so smooth. I also like the fact that they support the green movement and are earth friendly.

Tell your friends about it! It's super cheap and such a good buy.
