City of Somerville Rabies Clinic
SATURDAY, APRIL 19, 2008
10:00 A.M. – 12:00 noon

RABIES SHOT: Dogs & Cats - $5.00 per animal.

Dog Licensing available at clinic.
It is required that all dogs over 6 months of age be licensed in the City of Somerville.

DOG LICENSES - $16.00
SPAYED OR NEUTERED - $ 10.00

Located at the Department of Public Works building on Franey Rd, Somerville.

All dogs must be leashed.
All cats must be contained in carriers.

*You need not be a Somerville resident to participate in this clinic.

I've got two cats that are due for their rabies; do you guys give the letter that says they've had the shot? :)

If you are only getting a 1 year shot you need no paperwork.

BUT, if your cats' vaccinations are due BEFORE April 19th you may get a 3 year vaccination. For that you WILL need a copy of their last rabies certificate. If your vet is not in the area and it will be tough to get that paperwork by Saturday, you may have it faxed to me.


I realize the 3 yr shot thing is confusing so if you have any quesitons feel free to call me at the number above tomorrow during the day.

And yes, to answer you question, we do give out rabies certificates that proves they have had the shot. I misread your post.

Also, I misspoke....the vaccinations must be due AFTER April 19th in order to recieve a 3 yr shot.

Oh, I'd love to participate in this. My cats aren't technically due for their one-year shots for almost exactly another month -- is that ok, do you know?

Yes, I believe the time frame is something like 9 months from the date of the last rabies vaccination. So you can get your cats a 3 year rabies shot for $5 each. Not a bad deal =) Remember, if you wish to have the 3 yr shot you must have proof of the last rabies vaccinations for both cats.

to clarify some more... they can only get the three year shot if their one year shot has not expired? Our cats were due for their updated shots back in Nov/Dec, and we haven't been able to get organized enough to take them since we have a new baby, and no longer have a car....

Yes, the shot CANNOT be expired already. If your cats were due last Nov/Dec then they could only get a 1 year shot.

Licenses for guide dogs are free, FWIW. I assume that this would apply to other types of service animals as well, but can't say for sure.
