I have the data for 5 posters from a project I worked on for someone in the UK. They're A2-sized, and I'd like to get nice high-resolution prints of them. I tried Kinko's but I'm not inclined to trust any print shop that doesn't know what "A2" means. Any recommendations?

I have no idea if Princeton Printing (formerly Sir Speedy) can do this, but you may as well ask them.

Also, I tagged this. Click on the tag for earlier posts about printing, which may or may not be useful.

I use BFS for my poster printing. Charlie Amaru [charlie_amaru@bfsprinters.com] is the sales guy, and he's very good. they are closed Monday though.

I know they aren't in Davis, but neither is Kinko's, so I thought it would be okay. and BFS will deliver to you.

There's a company called Fleming Printing (spelling may be wrong) on White Street, that little side street that runs along the Porter Square parking lot. I have NO idea if this is the kind of thing they do, I've just noticed their sign whenever I walk by there... But maybe it's worth looking up a phone number and giving them a call.

Fleming is an offset printer. Not sure if they have a sheetfed press, but even so, they would likely be more appropriate for high-volume work. To be sure, I haven't worked with them for more than 15 years, so it's quite likely their capabilities have changed to some degree.

What quantities and qualities are you looking for?

I've used Pageworks on Cambridge Street between Inman and Lechmere. They're fast and small, so good to work with you on color correction and stuff.

Ok... I'm more used to working with photographic prints. There are places online like Adorama.com who will make poster sized digital C prints (ie print to photo paper in a wet process like you would expect of any photo lab with excellent color and resolution) and their prices are entirely reasonable. Currently they're having a sale on 16x20 prints (which is a bit smaller than an A2 so there's a good chance it won't work for you) for $4.95 each. Since they're using standard US photo sizes they don't have A2/European sized paper but they'll make prints up to 24x36.
In other words I'm probably of no help but in the off chance that you or someone else find it useful, here it is.

Hi there - I'd recommend that you just have it printed on oversize stock, and then have them trim it down to A2 (just give them the dimensions!) - it's not worth hunting for a sheet of A2 to print it on (or dealing with idiots at the copy shop). For one-offs, you are probably best off going to Staples and using their poster printing services (quality is very good for solid colors or photographic prints).

And that's my industry 2-cents.

Princeton Printing isn't doing oversize or poster printing right now.
