Jogging paths around Powderhouse Square?
May. 5th, 2004 11:33 amNow that Tufts has closed the Dussault track for construction over the summer, I'm faced with finding a new jogging path. When I lived in Arlington last year I was elated to be able to run along the banks of the Mystic, and now the prospect of running along sidewalks is rather disconcerting.
Anyone have any favorite routes up around Powderhouse?

how many miles?
Date: 2004-05-05 09:04 am (UTC)However, you can run down to the davis bikepath to start getting measured routes.
Or run down college/harvard/etc. until you cross rt 16 into the mystic river bikepaths, looping down to Wellington, then back up through 10 Hills and that neat muralled underpass. (Not sure how many miles these are, I should get a bicyclist to measure them for me.)
The Somerville Striders ~5K route goes through Powderhouse circle. If you start there:
Broadway towards ball square.
R on Cedar.
R on Bikepath, through to Holland St.
R up Holland
L on Broadway
R on (um, the last right turn before rt 16, after the last coffeeshop)
R onto Powderhouse Blvd.
Return to Circle.

And there's also just running back and forth on the bike path, if you really want to avoid the sidewalk, but there can be a fair bit of traffic there.
