selling CDs

I'm moving and looking to unload a large number of CDs. Does anyone have any strong feelings about CD Spins vs. Disc Diggers? (or Newbury Comics, but that's further that I'd have to haul them) Is one better than the other?

Go Disc Diggers all the way. It's a locally owned store rather than CD Spins which is a chain that oozed into Davis from Boston proper.

Haha, I think this individual amy have meant where will he get the better deal, not which business corresponds with your personal consumer ethics.

politics aside, the folks at disc diggers are just friendlier and nicer anyway.

Disc Diggers. Support local businesses.

Agreed. Disc Diggers is much friendlier and provides better service overall.

they will give you a better deal in general, but are a lot fussier about what CDs they'll take.
once they've picked out the ones they like, take the rest to CD spins, who will pretty much take anything, but give you less of a return on it all.

I would call/visit ahead with disk diggers, and find out what time would be best for disk diggers, since they will be spending time looking at the condition of the packaging, and possibly making sure the CD plays.
(However, I was able to walk right into CD spins afterwards.)

"oozed into Davis from Boston proper"

does the distinction really matter that much? boston is not some evil entity guys!

or per having LJ-communities?

there are several communities for Somerville as it is.
If you include the coffeeshops, there are several LJ-communties for Davis alone.

The amount of news/events in boston makes a single boston list either too busy or too inadequate. I'm far more likely to do something general that involves walking a block, as opposed to something that obliges me to spend an hour on the T.

(Not that I don't surf the general-boston lists to check on general-boston things.)

umm okay but what does that have to do with my post? i was trying to make the point that maybe it's not necessary to disparage a business because it "Oozed in from Boston".

ah, ok. I completely misread the intentions of your inquiry.

I suspect there's a lot of loyalty towards the store that was here before it was cool to be here.
It's not as if a lot of money is siphoned from davis into boston, without a good chunk of it coming back.

there may be the desire to support the "not even a local chain" store over the other, but, this is probably too small a scale for that to make much difference.
