I'm looking for organic composted manure in bulk. Anyone use a CSA that might have such a thing? I'm certainly willing to drive out and bring it back in big trashcans, but I have no idea where to start looking.

someone with an organic farm might actually use the manure. places that board horses, however, sometimes have trouble getting rid of the waste. they might pile it up and hope someone takes it away. i'd call those, maybe post a 'wanted' ad on craigslist. chicken manure is the best though!

If I were still working in NH, I could bring you some. [livejournal.com profile] goddessfarmer doesn't have any sitting around composting, per se, but I drove down a truckload of cow manure for our garden. (::waves:: I'm the one who lives downstairs from your brother...) Her chickens are free range, so the coop only gets about half the manure and it's pretty well mixed with hay and shavings by the time it gets scooped out--it would want "cooking" in a composter or similar for some time. Horse manure needs to be rotted before using, I'm told, but cow manure can go more or less straight on.

Good luck. I'll let [livejournal.com profile] dimers know if I get another days work up there sometime soon and might be able to bring, or facilitate the bringing, of manure.

This may be a little late, but Chip-in Farm in Concord, which I believe is organic, sells its chicken manure. I'm not sure if the manure is composted or not.
