Red Line Service Interruption
May. 11th, 2008 09:10 amBe aware that they're not letting anyone on the Red Line at Davis this morning at 0900; the MBTA web page reports "Somerville Fire Department activity" without further details. My morning commute is off to a rocky start...on the other hand, I suppose it beats smoke inhalation :-)

Date: 2008-05-11 04:36 pm (UTC)There were a firetruck and a police car outside the station yesterday as well, but it didn't look like the service was interrupted. This morning around 9:00 there were firemen with axes, camera crews, and at least four trucks.
People I asked were clueless. Did not want to bother surly firemen with weapons.

"...R7 went down the Summer St emergency shaft - E1 is going down
the Packard St[??] emerg shaft. E6 went to Holland St. The T official could not reach his dispatcher so the Somerville Fire dispatcher had to call the T Red Line dispatcher, apparently via telephone, to get the power (third rail)
killed on the subway line. 858AM"
I'm assuming R7 is a heavy rescue vehicle ( as in, a truck carrying tools for extrication, not an ambulance ), though Packard Ave seems a little too far away to have an access hatch to the subway.
