Just got the Somerville she's-not-Tom-Champion phone call: Til sometime tomorrow, we've lost that 93N onramp[Edit: the one AT Home Depot]. It said for emergency repairs, and I haven't found what that's concerning. But there it is(not).
Pop on up to the next Mystic Ave onramp or Meffa, down to da Museum a' Science, etc. for your 93N cruisin' needs.
[Note my Edit above- the Home Depot one. Town didn't say nature of emergency on phone]

Date: 2008-05-19 08:53 pm (UTC)This is Lesley Delaney Hawkins from the City of Somerville with information about a road closure in your area. The on-ramp to Route 93 northbound at Mystic Avenue, near Home Depot, has been closed for emergency repair work. The ramp is expected to reopen at some point tomorrow. Residents are urged to avoid this area as traffic congestion is likely during rush hour. For more information please call 311. Thank you.
Mass Highway called our Police Dept, which called Lesley -- and Lesley called everybody in Wards 4 and 1. Apparently (not yet confirmed) the decision was made by a Mass Highway crew on the scene.
(I was at the dentist's and missed the whole thing.)
And anent the "she's-not-Tom-Champion" label: Lesley and her colleague Jackie Rossetti (currently in Gaeta with the Sister City delegation) are fully-fledged Connect CTY Voice-of-Somervillens. They're looking out for your interests. Get to know those names -- you'll be hearing them again.
