in gallons and gallons. Really, I think the rain should just have to WAIT for people. We didn't ask to be in the path of a titanic monsoon!

(Anybody else out there soaked yesterday? Amazing, wasn't it?)

I had an amazingly lucky day yesterday. I was always inside while the rain was falling, but outside while it wasn't. Plus, I got home to Davis right before the red line madness started.

I had the opposite of your day - went to catch the train just as the red line madness was in full swing, decided to walk home from Alewife instead just as the skies opened up, then by the time I got to Mass Ave and could duck into a convenience store it was letting up and there was no point. It was clear by the time I got home.

I did pretty much the same. Walked from Central Square to Ball Square right in the thick of it. It has made me a stronger person. :-)

I took a walk after work that brought me to MGH just as the Red Line was stopped. So I crossed the Longfellow and had the sky open on us in the middle of it. It was awesome.

Ditto. Decided to walked from Alewife to avoid the madness, and right as I was walking through the parking lot of One Alewife Center it started pouring buckets. Dashed into the lobby, but not before my calves were soaked. Then I ventured out again during a slight break in the rain, and the skies cleared up for the rest of the way.

I was jealous of the people waiting in the lobby with me--they were just waiting for the rain to let up so they could walk to their cars and drive home.

It wasn't really "frolick" rain - at least in the Financial District, it was a torrential downpour coupled with lightning, and it made the drivers get a bit wonky. :)

I work just outside the Financial District and I could hear sirens all afternoon, presumably dealing with cars that got wonky from the downpour I initially thought was the sink next door and a cart falling down the stairs.

There was a fire at downtown crossing. I think that was the cause of the sirens.

The fire wasn't until hours later, after I got out of work. I managed to catch one of the last red line trains before service was majorly interrupted.

torrential downpour in hot weather is actually my idea of frolic weather, but indeed more around the river/nature-y places rather than downtown crossing-esque.

I was at Home Depot when the skies really ripped open. I laughed at all the big tough contractors huddled near the exit afraid to go to their cars because they might melt. Then I slowly walked to my car. It was fun.

The joke was on me though - it was still raining when I got home and water had leaked in through a basement window. I was so busy bailing water out of our window well that I didn't have time to build my ark.

"Luckily" I was at work until 8 and it was sunny and lovely when I left.

I managed to walk all the way from porter just getting drizzled. Just as I walked into the square, the sky opened up. Good timing, I suppose. :)
