I own a fairly nice Lemond Fillmore, its in great condition but its often eyed up by people when its locked up and Im worried it'll get nabbed. Im considering a respray to white with no decals, I guess Im looking for a nice job so it looks good but no so good that its still eyeballed by potential little theives.

Can anybody recommend a bike shop / auto shop that i could take the frame to to get resprayed for not too many $$$

Ta!

I have heard of some autobody places doing it on the cheap, with whatever color they had loaded in the sprayer. (all the autobody places are down between union and somerville ave, or back in the area between twin cities plaza and behind target. You could prolly ask around and strike up a deal -- it'll bean adventure.

But they usually need everything stripped. Or wrapping the top/down tube in a plain contact paper...sure it will look like a generic bike -- and it wouldn't have lost its resale value.

Alternately, try tape. Or Tag's hardware for a can of spray-paint.

Gaffer's tape works beautifully, protects the paint, and can be removed for resale.

Does this bike live outside at night?

Also, have you registered (http://www.nationalbikeregistry.com/register.html) it?

Didn't know about that. Is it worth it?

This seems like you're worrying too much to me. People probably eye it because it's pretty or interesting looking, not because they want to steal it. Why would you want to undo that? I would just make sure to always do a good job locking it up.
