I just learned that if you have lived in Somerville or Medford for more then 6 months you can audit one class a semester at Tufts for the cost of registering ie only $45! (at least for the summer programs) I checked the past logs on this site and this info is buried in a sting of comments from two years ago, but since there are probably many people that have joined in the past two years seems like it is worth mentioning. I found it very exciting.....  http://ase.tufts.edu/summer/other.asp

I was under the impression that they ended this program in the last year or two...

Do you have any current info that says otherwise?

I don't understand what you mean. What is wrong with the form that the OP linked to?

My mistake, I thought the link was to data "from two years ago" and didn't realize it was a link to the program.

Thank you for this! I'm moving to Somerville this summer, and this is AWESOME! :-)

I've heard that local residents get last priority in registering, so if you want to take anything that's likely to fill up it may be difficult. Still, definitely worth looking into.

Since you are going to audit anyway, its a good idea to email the professor who is teaching the class and see if there is space. Most professors do not care if there is an auditor and you can usually audit a class for absolutely free if there is space (you probably won't get things graded, but you can attend the lectures).

I just want to add that I'll be teaching an Intro to Playwriting course there during the second summer session if anyone is interested in auditing :)

Ooh, how would you feel about posting this to [livejournal.com profile] theatreatfirst? I'd bet several folks (especially the ones involved in the show :) would be excited about taking a class with one of our authors.

(FYI, I was Festival Director of Surprise Kisses.)

Thanks for posting the auditing information. This rocks!

is resident auditing for the summer only?

Does anyone know if the same deal applies to residents during the regular semesters? The form that is linked here is for auditing during the summer session only.

If so, know where I could find a form to register? I did some nosing around on the Tufts website but didn't see one. Also, you mention a necessity of living in Somerville for at least 6 months but I don't see that anywhere as a requirement. Why do you believe that is required?

Thanks!
