See post from 6/11/08.

I live closer to Porter than Davis, but I'm hoping someone on here can help.  My indoor cat escaped from my Cedar Street apartment early this morning and I haven't seen her since.  She is a 2-year-old brown tabby named Chloe.  She's wearing a red collar and has a tag on.  She has an extra two on each of her front paws.  I'm really worried about her being outside in this heat, so I'd be VERY grateful if anyone who has spotted her could let me know.  Thanks

Just saw a small cat on Kidder (just off College) with a tag that was bell shaped. It was too dark to see if the collar was red.

There's a small gray tabby who lives on Kidder between College & Willow and is an outdoor cat. She's very sociable and tends to greet folks who walk by, follow along, etc. I'm friends with her owners, who say people think she's lost all the time. I forget what her tag is like, though.

I hope you find your kitten! Put up signs around your neighborhood, and drop a line to nearby vets and the mspca.

The heat probably won't be a problem for her, on its own. Cats run hotter than people do, and are more efficient about using water. But she might have decided to lay low through the hottest hours, so now that the sun has gone down, it's a good time to go looking. Might want to put down a bowl of water too, in case she comes back when you're not around looking for her.

When my best friend's cat accidentally got out, he called Animal Rescue League and they actually helped him get his cat back! He couldn't say enough nice things about them. Hopefully they can help you. Good luck.

How adventurous is your cat? When my indoor cat got out for the first time I thought for sure she would take off out of the neighborhood and get lost. I stopped calling to her, waited 15 minutes and tried again and she was hiding right next to the house. I don't think cats go very far on purpose -- put a can of wet food out on your porch, let it sit for 10 minutes and check back -- I bet your cat will be there.
