OK, anybody even partially skilled in DIY will laugh at this post.  I bought a couple of trestles from IKEA to build a desk and I need to shorten the legs by 3-4 inches...  I recently moved here and don't own any tools, and even if I did I wouldn't want to do this work myself because a wonky tabletop is perhaps the most annoying thing in the world...

So... does anybody know of a woodworking shop that would be able to help me shorten these legs by way of a table saw or something similar?

Thanks all...

+ 1.

Just do it. I would use a circular saw instead of a hand saw, but whatever. If the legs are wobbly, run out and get the adjusters you can put in the bottom of the legs that will let you compensate for that.

You might hink this is a dumb question, but what should the piece of wood be sitting on when you use a circular saw? I can't picture an easy way of cutting something without it falling to the ground, unless I use 4 sawhorses so each half is supported at the end.

I have a shop here in Davis and could do it. I'm really sick right now and will be leaving town in a little over a week so there may be time in between. If you try it with a hand saw you will have a wobbly table. Email me off my profile.

yeah, but the uneven floor that he inevitably has since he lives near davis sq will likely overwhelm the table leg discrepancies that he creates if he takes his time with the saw.
