Circuit Bending at W & B this Saturday!

Donations Welcome
Join us for the second Willoughby and Baltic circuit bending workshop on the 28th of June from 5 - 9 (ish). The first event was a smashing sucsess, and there is an obvious interest in the area for bending. Make sure to check out the spot that was featured on Share.tv about it. In following up with requests, we will be having a part swap and Jam in addition to a longer theory and practical example session. It will all around be a much longer event, hopefully with more projects that go to completion. Please bring anything you've been working on as well, and share with the group.
You are expected to bring in your own battery operated toy or instrument. There will be parts for sale if you need or want them, as well as some instruments and toys that members are putting up for sale (if you have extra toys, bring them for the swap!), but it's always more fun to find something yourself. Look in second hand stores, garage sales, eBay, craigslist, or you can even find some things in larger stores like CVS, Target, and Toys R Us (though you will pay more). Anything that uses batteries and makes noise is generally a good place to start.
You should also bring in some buttons and knobs you like. These are very important for the final look and feel of your project. Unfortunately there are not many places in the area for such things, but you can find a surprising selection at Radio Shack, or if you have a car you can make a run out to You-do-it electronics in Needham. Online has the best selection for the cheapest price, but you never really know what you are getting till it arrives, unless you have the specific part number of something you like. We have a number of potentiometers for sale, so if you don't have any, don't worry about it. Same thing with Resistors.
There is no cost for the workshop, but we are asking non-members to donate to help support events like these. The best way to support us, is to simply become a member, but you can alternately just leave a donation. We will have drinks available for purchase, as well as some snacks. At some point we will order food, and you will be able to buy into the larger dinner order if you wish. Hopefully the weather will be nice, so that we can have outdoor seating available so that food and work can stay separate.
Rough schedule outline - likely to change depending on how quickly/slowly the group wishes to move.
4:00 - Part swap, and general mingle.
5:00 - Intro to Circuit Bending, with examples. There will be talks of specific circuits,
tying in with audio systems, as well as a Q&A.
6:00 - Information share where you can and should show off anything you've been up to,
as well as any stories.
6:30 - Hands on workshop, where you will work on what you brought in.
9:00 - Hopefully most of the projects will be wrapping up, and a Jam session can start.
Suggestions for things to bring:
* Battery operated toy - as there is no guarantee that there will be anything you will want.
* Knobs and buttons you like - these are almost as important as the toys themselves.
* Cables to tie into an audio system with if you want to jam. There will be some cables, but no guarantee that there will be a ton of available resources. Think about the type of output you want, and we can hopefully help you get that out of your instrument. (Mono, Stereo, 1/8, 1/4, or RCA)
* Sound mixers, if you have one, bring it. There are never enough at things like this. If you have a decent Amp, it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it. We can help load and unload it, as well as find you parking.
Members can let us know of any parts they are looking for, and we will throw them in with an order online before the event, but please let us know at least a week ahead of time.
