I'm taking the liberty of posting this since the artist recruited models from the Davis Square Area.... if the moderators feel it isn't appropriate, please let me know, and I'll delete it.
this is the Tattooed Lady art show that the artist posted about back sometime in February or March. It goes up July 5th....
The Washington Street Art Center presents "TATTOOED LADY: A PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPLORATION" by Deborah Morgan.
ON VIEW: July 5th-26th, 2008, Saturdays 12:00-4:00 and by appointment
OPENING RECEPTION: July12th, 6:00-9:00pm
CONTACT: Washington Street Art Center, 617-623-5315 or Deborah Morgan via email drmphotog (at) gmail (dot) com Hi-res photos and interviews available.
"Tattooed Lady" is a contemporary photographic series that explores women, tattoos, and their stories. The show consists of a portrait series of approximately twenty women, as well as short interviews with the models. "Each woman I photographed had a story to share," says the artist. "I sought to capture those stories in the portraits."
"Tattooed Lady" seeks to not only capture the beauty and uniqueness of the women and their tattoos, but to look into broader of aspects of society, self identification, and history. "I hope this exhibit inspires and intrigues people," says the artist. "I want them to question what the phrase "tattooed lady" means to them."
This exhibit will doubtless shake up any preconceived notions people hold about tattooed individuals. A wide variety of women are represented in the series-- ages range from 18 to 45+ and the models are from many different backgrounds—students, mothers, a psychologist, a science fiction author, and others. The images range from the serious to the silly, but all are captivating.
Tattooed Lady is on display at Gallery 321 at the Washington Street Art Center during the month of July, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 12th from 6:00-9:00pm. Normal gallery hours are Saturdays 12:00pm-4:00pm with additional viewings available by appointment.
