I need strawberries and rhubarb for pie for Friday, and had been planning to get them from the farmer's market this afternoon; however, I don't need to tell people what the weather is like.

Are there vendors present still? Has anyone been by recently and can tell me if I will find either of them there if I go by at around 5?

(either that or where there will be a farmer's market tomorrow that maybe I could get to hopefully before tomorrow's inevitable monsoon)

They're usually still open when I leave the office around 5:30, so you should be fine.

Haymarket isn't a farmers' market, and it's not on Thursdays (only on Fridays and Saturdays)

I just got back from the farmer's market, and all the vendors are still there.

There were strawberries at today's market. (And raspberries, and cherry tomatoes every color of the rainbow, and tons of leafy greens ...) Like [livejournal.com profile] emcicle, I didn't see any rhubarb, though; the only place I've seen rhubarb this year has been Russo's (though it wouldn't surprise me if the Porter Square Shaw's carried it).

Re the Mass Farmers Market website (massfarmersmarkets.org), it appears to be hacked at the moment. Off the top of my head, the markets I remember happening tomorrow are the ones near Kendall Square and Coolidge Corner. If you can't make it to the limited hours of the Kendall market tomorrow (I think it's like 11:30-2 or something crazy short like that), the Brookline market is worth the trek, and is one of my favorites. They'll definitely have strawberries, though they may not have rhubarb.

the davis square market had rhubarb the two previous weeks, because I bought it then... it must be out of season for the farms around here now?

Thursdays from 2 to, uh, 6? there's a nice farmers' market in Belmont Center: www.BelmontFarmersMarket.org . Probably accessible by bus. Their newsletter for this week doesn't list rhubarb as one of the expected items, though.

Other markets: http://www.mass.gov/agr/massgrown/farmers_markets.htm . Hopefully there's a convenient one for you -- there are a bunch in the area tomorrow.

For future reference, I find that there are people at the Davis one until closing, but they get not to have very much stuff toward the end. The one in Arlington is also Wednesdays and runs about an hour later.

The Mass Farmers Markets page should be up next week - the webmaster is out of town!
I didn't find any rhubarb yesterday - I wonder if it's just past the height of the season. Wilson Farms would maybe have it...

The strawberries, however, are at their best. And the cherries at Kimball Farms....wow!
