Recently Redbones donated a wonderful BBQ feast to one of the local homeless shelters. The recipients were so happy about it and so grateful. One of them told me it was like a real party. She was so animated with joy when she talked about it, I think it was the highlight of her week.
So I wanted to pass that along and say "Good Job Redbones!"

And it just wouldn't be right for me to not give the local brigade of the paranoid and distrustful something to pelt me with shill'ings over.
My gift to you:  Redbones makes absolutely the *best* fried okra north of the Charles river.

Have at it!

Love and lightly salted fried okra,
L.

Redbones is regularly and repeatedly a role-model business for contributing to the community... Thank you for thanking them!

I would sooner eat fried rocks than fried okra, but that's a nice story :)

What's the best place for fried okra south of the river? I'm a huge fan, and as much as I love Redbones, their fried okra doesn't live up to my Southern Fried memories.

Word. It's kind of terrible.

Their fried okra is quite terrible. So unbelievably dry! I enjoy eating at Redbones, but despite okra being my favorite food *ever*, I don't eat the okra at Redbones. Yuck.

Sadly, I'm not aware of any other place that offers fried okra. (I settle for okra dishes at Indian restaurants.) As a transplanted southerner, at least I can occasionally get grits :)

It's always nice to recognize a business that has consistently given back to the community. Since they first opened, they have always been willing to donate anything from a gift certificate for a raffle to a dinner at a homeless shelter. Thanks for being a good neighbor, Redbones!

I was already planning on one of their Tour de France breakfasts, and now I will look forward to it even more! :)

I missed that, but last night we did get some stuff donated by Boston Grill or somesuch place. At least there was salad, with real live greens! Which they apparently don't normally give us at the shelter.

They also donated four giant catering trays worth of macaroni and cheese to The Family Center's Family Fun Day party last week. The Family Center is a local family counseling organization in Union Square. Some of you may recognize it's distinctive yellow and red building right on the square.
