Charity Event Space?

I belong to a nonprofit charitable organization, and one of our major fundraisers is a silent auction. Our usual venue, though, is far from Davis, and I think if we moved the venue closer to Davis Square, it would be more successful. Can anyone recommend a place in Davis that might donate space, or rent at a very low cost, for a charitable event?

Thoughts off the top of my head include the public library or public schools... but I'm not sure if they'd be open to hosting outside events.

Any comments are appreciated! I apologize if this has been covered in previous posts; I couldn't find anything, though.

I very highly reccommend the Unity Church On College Ave. They have a great space and are very open and welcome to new groups. The contact there is Betty and you can find their number in the phone book, I'm sure, or by Googling.

does anyone in your group have any connection to any of the local churches? they might be able to get time in a church basement or something.

It's worth checking with First Congregational Church of Somerville, 89 College Ave. We've got a lot of events these days, so it's not easy to find time; but it's a good location and space.
