what happened yesterday that prompted Tom to delete his DSLJ account? I looked back in the posts and couldn't find it. I gather from the comments today that there was some confusion in some info he provided, but I didn't see the implied disaster. Was it related to the parking ticket thread? I read all the comments and didn't see any from him.

Tom CHampion is SOmerville's PR guy- if you get the robo calls from 311 saying "There's a snow emergency" or "Zombies have taken over the eastern half of the city, all survivors should rally at the Powderhouse, please bring guns" they are from him. He joined LJ as a tool to communicate with us, and it's been pretty awesome, until too many people flipped their shit too many times and he decided the experiment was a bust.

It was great seeing that the city actually gave a crap about what we had to say.

i don't have a house phone, and I have an out of state telephone, so no robocalls for me.

I just tested out my parents phone number in Minneapolis, and it let me submit it, so you can get the robo-calls, if you want.

otherwise, when the zombies come, you're just screwed.

The moral of the story: The Internet ruins everything.

HA! Yes. But in all seriousness, I think the breakdown come with the communication between the Internet and a Municipality.

Where the internet is instant, Somerville is not able to move that quickly

Tom attempted to bridge that gap, to get us answers and results quickly, however this meant on two occasions he had information that wasn't accurate.

This has to be frustrating to him, he put himself out there but at times had to report information he thought was accurate but wasn't. I don't blame him a bit for leaving but I don't think that anyone is at fault. It was a communication breakdown.
