So, I haven't been too inspired by CCAE's selection of writing classes this summer, and sometimes I'm too busy to get into Boston to participate in Grub Street's offerings.  Are there any groups that do workshops, seminars, or classes for writers in the Cambridge/Somerville area?

A lot of people don't realize that just over the Somerville line the Arlington Center for the Arts runs adult ed classes in prose and poetry from September through June. I teach there and would love to have some new people in my class. This fall, I'm looking for prose writers of literary fiction, memoir or essay for a six-week Saturday morning workshop. I'm also offering a class in Sudden Fiction on Wednesday nights from 7-9 pm. Basically I bring a prompt to class, and people write for a half hour or longer and then read out loud. It's a great way to generate new material, get instant feedback and shake things up a bit in your writing.

The fall catalog is coming out soon at ACARTS.org. You can email me directly for more info at alisawolf@aol.com.

ACA is just off Mass. Ave., between the Capitol Theater in East Arlington and Arlington Center, accessible by bus #77 and other bus lines from Alewife. There's free parking, too.
