did anyone else get so much as one wink of sleep last night? it was so ridiculously hot here i kept waking up. i had the fan on full blast and kept spritzing water on me to cool myself off. seriously, next heat-wave i am organizing a sleep-over at work. we can bring pillows/sleeping bags, board games. we can order in pizza and maybe even hijack one of the tv's from the video conference room. at the very least, we'd all be on time for work. y'know, if someone remembers to bring the alarm clock. anyone know any air-conditioned happy hangouts -- ones that don't involve having to buy too much?

My friend works at a movie theatre and they had an employees and friends-only screening of MIB2. Knowing that the heat would keep me awake I opted to go.

As for the movie... it was free. It was very free. And air conditioned too.

Tonight will suck.

Oooh, I didn't take a look at what Somerville Theatre has been playing recently. I've been wanting to see Amelie. How long do their movie runs last? Will it still be playing next week, do you know?

i think amelie has been playing there a while (but i haven't had a chance to see it yet). sometimes they have movies forever, but usually not the ones i keep putting off seeing.

We bought a window air conditioner recently and installed it in the bedroom. This has been saving my life repeatedly, as have cold showers. Aside from that...aigh. Just spent all day in Walden, which is pretty cheap if you can get there. Libraries are free, and nice if you aren't planning to do anything loud (the Tufts library is open until 10 and open to the public). I was never clear on whether the new Wainwright was a hangout spot or not, but it's air conditioned, albeit probably not open when you're not at work.

Some of the Red Line cars have shockingly-nice air conditioning. Of course, this just makes it worse when you get to the destination.

Since water's included with the rent, I've been taking a *lot* more cool showers lately. Damp skin in front of a fan can cool me down long enough to fall asleep...usually.
