What *totally* cracked me up was that as I biked past this afternoon, there were a couple buses from senior centers, a giant truck that read "Elder Care" on the side, a couple hundred folks in the 70+ set, and... a DJ playing Village People, YMCA at full volume.
Uh, dude? Not really a dance party, I think. Or, at least, not *that* kind of dance.
My company had a party today that must've had the same DJ, at least in soul---he kept trying to get the buttoned-down engineers to dance, rather than scarf down their free food and go back to work. YMCA, the Twist, and the achy-breaky heart (he made the poor volunteer picnic organizers learn the line dance) all made an appearance in the 45 minutes I was there. I'm 26, but most of the people there are just getting started (and trying to get taken seriously) or just about to retire.

Date: 2008-08-13 09:25 pm (UTC)This would have made a lot more sense with ">>I<< was shocked they had Herbie Hancock on the cover".
My uncle has no idea who Herbie Hancock is.

Time to hire a new DJ.
