hey is there a decent or ok skate shop around davis ?

i'm looking to pick up a longboard for making more enjoyable my trips to porter and teele. plus i just got over an inner-ear infection so i'm trying to capitalize on my rekindled agility

do bike shops carry crap like this ?

I don't know of any around Davis and I haven't found many places that stock a good selection of longboard parts. For a quick fix there's Blade, Board,& Skate on Newbury but their inventory is usually pretty limited.

I've been meaning to check out Ocean Frog in Malden (www.oceanfrog.com). If their web store is any guide, they seem to know longboards.

Is Beacon Hill Skate still around? They used to have skateboard parts, back in the day. Also not around Davis, but easily accessible.

You might be thinking of Timeless BMX, 441 Cambridge Street, which I would say is really more East Cambridge (nearest cross street is 5th) than Inman (I've always figured the line between East Cambridge and Inman is approximately the intersection of Cambridge and Cardinal Medeiros). I know nothing about this shop except that I walk by it on my daily commute.

Isn't there a skate shop in the Garage in Harvard Sq? My roommate bought me a P&P Steve Steadham reissue deck for my bday there last year. Not sure if they do longboards though.

Don't know of any shops near Davis. But I do know of the Coliseum Skate shop in Melrose. 454 Franklin St. It's across the street from the commuter rail T stop. So you could take a train from Porter. check out http://www.coliseumskate.com for more info.
