Info on neighborhood man

Its a strange thing to ask, but here goes anyway.

Has anyone lately seen the very large man who rides the 88 bus and would sometimes hang out in the Square? He is probably around 50 and very obese.

I haven't seen him for literally months now and I'm a bit concerned. He was extremely friendly and I would often see him around Somerville. I don't know if something happened to him or if he moved away. He always seemed to know many people and I'm sure some of you might know the person I'm referring to.

If you have seem him lately please let me know. I don't know his name, but would often chat with him when I saw him on the bus or in the Square.

Nah, this guy was American. I think I know who you are talking about, yeah, I see him too occasionally.

The guy I'm referring to had greying hair and was at least 500 pounds. He had to sit in the front of the bus (he always rode the 88 bus).

It's awesome to see someone show genuine concern for someone they don't even know. I don't know the man you're speaking of. But I'll ask a few friends. If I find any info I'll pass it along. I hope he's ok.

I don't know who you're looking for, but I've been having similar worries about Jimmy, my bus stop companion over here in Southie. Haven't seen him in quite some time and I'm fearing the worst.

I agree with purpless77; it's awesome to see genuine concern over someone you only know in passing. My husband tends to light-heartedly rib me about making friends with people on the street, so I'm glad to see that someone else exhibits the same behavior.

When you see someone all the time, its hard to not be concerned when they sort of disappear (even if the only connection you have is a shared bus ride).

I completely agree, but I also think lots of people don't get their head up and turn their ipod off long enough to recognize the people around them...which is a real bummer, IMHO.

I know who you mean (I ride the 88 too). He often seemed to know the bus driver and one or two passengers. I haven't seen him in a long time either (though I tend to cycle more and ride the bus less in the warm weather).

I have definitely seen this guy riding the 88 within the last month. (As you know, etana and I are very often in the front of the bus, too, with our service dogs.) I can certainly pass on your regards/concern if I notice him again.

I know just who you're talking about too (he sometimes wears suspenders, which I love) and he gets off at the convenience store across the street from City Hall. I haven't been on the 88 bus in a while either, but if you find out, would you update this post?

I know of him - he seemed very friendly. I'm never on the 88 anymore though, so I haven't seen him since I moved from Teele. That is really nice of you to notice though.

I believe I know who you're talking about and I've seen him comparatively recently, though I don't ride the 88 much (I live near Lechmere and on the not very frequent occasions that I happen to be going between home and Davis by public transportation I take whichever of the 87 or 88 happens to arrive first)
