Hello everybody,
I know lots of Davis Sq folks are cyclists, so this might be of interest.
An idea came to me of an opportunity to gather public media fans, piggy-backing on an event sponsored by the City of Boston:
http://hubonwheels.kintera.org/
This annual event is a fundraiser for Technology Goes Home, offering training programs that serve inner-city families through the Boston Public Schools. Riders can ride as part of a team or as an individual. I looked for a team to join but discovered that they're either names like "Kate's Team" or teams that represent businesses, schools, or clubs. So, I created this team:
Public Media Fans Unite
I've reached out to WGBH, WBUR, PRX and local producers so far to use our collective networks to invite folks to be part of this this team. It would be an invite of "If you're planning to ride and want to be part of a team of public media fans, look for ---." because riders have to cough up a registration fee. It's a group that means something to the riders besides "we're biking advertisements for (insert entity name)."
One last thing: only a couple of more days to register before the late fee kicks in (9/7/08).
Please share this with interested parties. Thank you for reading!
Ride safely,
Angie
UPDATE:
For those you that have already registered and want to switch to this team, I will have to collect your first/last names and forward that info to folks at HOW - they can switch your team alignment.

Date: 2008-09-05 04:41 pm (UTC)I will check with Hub on Wheels to find out how folks that have already registered can join teams.
Sorry that this is such late notice: this just came to me two days ago and I've been posting invites where I see appropriate. To be honest I wasn't sure if I should have posted here, being that it isn't exactly Davis Sq related.
I'll find out more and add updates.
