They've made it very hard to find what number one should fax an "I'm travelling, it's ok!" notice to. I've found both 617-439-4854 and 4548 as likely ones, as well as other HR and PR ones.

Boston or Davis Sq. branch are both fine.

Anyone have it around? Soon?

Thanks!

They are open Sat. until 1 or 1:20 -- you can call and log it, and if they complain, inform them that it is unreasonable to expect a citizen to ask permission of their bank in order to travel. They do have the ability to input the info from there, from a phone call or visit, because I have done it.

every time i have traveled and notified my bank/credit card companies, i have been told that I don't need to notify them. I usually do it by phone, though.

Wainwright has phoned me when I used my debit card while traveling in the past. However, they did not decline any transactions before phoning me, they just phoned me to make sure the transactions I had made were okay. So, if you don't mind a phone call, and will be somewhere where your cell phone will work, and they have that number, things should be fine.

I believe I did once phone the number on the back of the card and asked them to note my account that I would be traveling, giving the location and dates, and they agreed to do so but told me it was unnecessary. (I'm pretty sure that was my Wainwright card, but not absolutely certain.)
