Hello! I'm new to the area, and was wondering if there are any places I can buy stuff like milk and eggs in returnable bottles/containers?

Thanks very much! :)

I know that www.inseason.us delivers to Somerville and Cambridge and they have milk in glass quart bottles.

There's an article about it in today's Boston Globe:

Crescent Ridge Dairy (http://crescentridge.com/) delivers. You can also buy their milk at some Whole Foods'.

According to their delivery map, they still don't deliver to Somerville.

I bring my empty egg cartons to the farmers who provides me with my meatshare and they reuse them.

Yeah, Hanson's Farm at the farmer's market is done with eggs for this year but they reuse the cartons when I bring them back.

usually sold out by 12:15! They were gorgeous, too. She said they got a raccoon that killed most of the hens, which is why they are out now.

The Whole Foods at Alewife (and possibly others) sells milk in returnable glass bottles. I got cream that way once or twice. It was unbelievably delicious, but I found dealing with bottles to be more hassle than I wanted--they weren't resealable, and I don't go through that much cream at once.
