I'm looking for a tailor (or someone else who stitches things) that has a sewing machine with a long arm and detachable foot. I'm trying modify a backpack, and a regular sewing machine can't reach.
I would need to look at it. I have an extremely long free arm machine with a walking foot.
SAR? Do you mean Search and Rescue? How much safety is tied to the strength of the tabs and chaining? I would require a waiver of liability before starting any kind of safety critical work. If it's just for accessories and stuff then that is a different story.
yeah, this is my 24hr pack. The extra stuff is so I can hang a bike light on the pack (packs have a tendency to disappear at night...) and so I can lash a foam pad to the bottom. For safety-critical work we use separate, dedicated lines and webbing.
I get back into town Tues next week. We should meet up and discuss the project. If it looks like there is going to be a lot of labor in taking stuff apart then we may be able to design something that can rivet on instead.
