The East Somerville Main Streets group is running a survey at the end of September to get some better info on how to develop our local business district (lower Broadway, between Sullivan and McGrath). We need some volunteers to help out. Here are the details from the East Somerville Main Streets Blog (http://eastsomervillemainstreets.blogspot.com/2008/09/survey-says.html):
We need volunteers! East Somerville Main Streets will be conducting a neighborhood survey at the end of September and we're looking for some friendly people to stand out on the street and ask passersby to fill out a survey. The information will help us better serve our local businesses and support their work, while giving us ideas about what sorts of new businesses would compliment our current business mix.
The survey runs from September 20th-30th and includes day, evening, and weekend shifts. If you enjoy talking to people and want to help your neighborhood be the best it can be, please consider helping us! For more information or to sign up for a shift, please email us at info@eastsomervillemainstreets.org.

Date: 2008-09-10 03:08 pm (UTC)ESMS is doing the survey in order to learn more about the neighborhood. This information will be useful for attracting new businesses to East Somerville and helping existing businesses grow. Everyone in Somerville benefits from having more thriving business districts in the city.
Union Square Main Streets has done a few of these surveys and the data they've gathered (all of which is anonymous, by the way) has helped them to do a lot of good work in that neighborhood.
