Time to Suit Up!

I'm about to go attend a few weddings and realize I haven't gotten a new suit or sportsjacket since my teens. I used to go to some ol' time classic Mens stores where you basically went around with a salesperson who worked with you to pick out a few outfits, then got you fitted right there in the store. Is there anything equivalent to that around the Cambridge/Somerville area?

If not, any recommendation of where to get a nice suit or sportsjacket in the area?

I've also been pleased with my experiences at Men's Wearhouse. I've bought a suit and a sport coat from them, and they also handled the tuxes for our wedding. I would definitely recommend them.

I bought my last three suits at Men's Wearhouse and in general I've been quite pleased with my experience there.

Keep in mind though that the salesmen work on commission and so some of them tend to be a bit aggressive.

For budget duds, try Keezer's on River St. right in Central Square - gently worn 2nd-hand and factory-closeout stuff.

Keeser's is great! It costs less to buy a new suit and tux than some nearby places charge to *rent* one.

I've actually had that experience at every menswear shop I've been to but have been pretty unimpressed with the quality of the stuff that a lot of shops sell.

Men's Wearhouse is, despite the fact that it's big and chainy, pretty good and often has decent deals as well.

You can laugh if you want, but my 6'3" BF with all sorts of weird body proportions just bought two jackets in excellent shape at The Garment District for $30 total. One fit perfectly, and the other needed a $5 tailoring. He has worn both to weddings and awards ceremonies since then.

Of course, that isn't the most guaranteed experience, but if you aren't in a rush it's worth adding to the list.
