Republican Ballot:
write-in campaign for Middlesex County Register of Probate
From politickerma.com: "While there is no competition in this race, Natick Republican John Lambert, son of the former Middlesex County Register of Probate Donna Lambert, is running for the Republican Nomination to replace disgraced Register John Buonomo (D). However, Lambert is a write-in candidate, and will need to collect 1,000 Votes County Wide to win the Republican Nomination."

Working Families Party Ballot:
write-in campaign for Middlesex County Register of Probate
Sean O'Donovan (according to my mail endorsed by John Connolly and Joe Curtatone)

You should add that former Newton Mayor Tom Concannon, who apparently came close to getting elected Register of Probate a few elections ago, is running a write-in campaign for the Democratic nomination for that office this year. More info here.

Here are my favorite candidates running in contested primaries near here this Tuesday:
  • Carl Sciortino (write-in, incumbent) for state rep, Somerville/Medford

  • Patrick McCabe for state rep, Medford

  • Sonia Chang-Diaz for state senate, Boston

  • Jason Lewis for state rep, Winchester/Stoneham

I think Kerry is a much better Senator than O'Reilly would be, though I'm not calling Kerry one of my "favorites".

I think writing in Tom Concannon for Register of Probate is a better idea than leaving it to town & ward committee caucuses, which is what will happen if Buonomo wins and withdraws (likely scenario), because there's such a short time to do them that it'd be a scramble, many committees won't meet or won't find enough delegates, and the result will be somewhat haphazard and messy.

If anyone here has any opinion whatsoever about the Governor's Council race, I'd like to hear it now.

Callahan did not impress me at all when he ran for State Senate a few years ago, but that doesn't mean much about how he performs in his current job.

Roseann Trionfi-Mazzuchelli's website seems to be here (http://governorscouncil.com/1.html). (It's hard to find, since her name is barely on it.) I can't find one for Mike Callahan. I wrote up my impressions of the race here (http://allonymist.livejournal.com/15943.html); like all opinions you get on LJ, it may not be worth much more than what you've paid for it. ;)

The guy was videotaped stealing money at his office, REPEATEDLY! I definitely don't want this guy in ANY public position.

While we're at it does anyone know of a good place to go (other than the candidates web sites') to learn about the differences between Bob Trane and Carl Sciortino?

I don't, but just from their websites I am pretty unimpressed by both of them. Bob is for casino gambling in the state? Ugh, no thanks. Carl couldn't get his act together to get his nomination papers in? How is he supposed to represent my community?

Without being rude, I'm sort of disappointed with the options. If someone has a positive opinion on one of these folks fill me in....

Carl Sciortino is not on the ballot because he had nomination papers stolen from his office during the campaign. I'd say that if he can still manage to win on a write-in campaign, that makes him doubly qualified to represent the community.
