From their e-mail newsletter: "Stop by J.P. Licks and get a FREE small ice cream or yogurt cone or cup, all day, on Tuesday, September 16th! All you have to do is show us your college I.D."

I wonder if this applies to college staff. It doesn't say "student ID", which is different.
hmmm...J.P. Licks across the street...

I doubt it, but I was thinking that it would be nice. :)

I recommend getting on the mailing lists of lots of the local businesses. I send them to a gmail account and check every now and then.

I recommend getting on the Hollywood Express mailing list. They send out occasional free video rentals - I think I have gotten 3 since Memorial Day.

I'm sick of these local businesses mollycoddling college students!

Last year's free campus promotion was better -- you could just print a form from their website and take it to any store and get a free cone...no ID or college affiliation required (and it stretched over a couple of weeks).

That's my plan. It's UMass Amherst, but I imagine some kid making minimum wage could give a damn.

In front of me in line was a very middle-aged woman who said she *had* a student ID...from sometime...if they were not too picky about the date. They didn't seem to be.

I think they should give free ice cream to people with "I voted" stickers. :-P

I would but I'm not going to be in Somerville again until well after voting has ended today! Someone else should do it.

I just have a valid student ID as of last week.

I love you, Ron. I'm going on a walk for ice cream now.

Do they make grad students put the silly stickers on the back saying what semester it's valid for? I never did figure out how to get a spring one... apparently if you live on campus it shows up in your mailbox, but I didn't live on campus.

No -- I believe that's printed on the front, actually. Something I came across in the process suggested to me that the IDs had been redesigned recently. (They're actually quite attractive.)
