abandoned bicycle

Someone ditched a bicycle in my driveway about a week ago. At first I thought it belonged to the folks downstairs, but when I asked about it, they said it wasn't theirs. I called the S'ville Police this past Sunday to report it, but here it is Tuesday and it's still here. I live between Porter and Davis.

Considering all the bike thefts around here, I'm jumping to the conclusion that it was stolen and discarded. If you're missing a red 10-speed, get in touch.

of course, it might have been a different color before the thief repainted it.

hm - an artistic thief. possible, of course.

It appeared in my driveway last Sunday/Monday sometime (Sept 7 or 8). Victims of heinous bicycle thievery on or before that time might want to take note.

For nearly a week about a week ago, there was an unlocked mountain bike right in front of my apartment -- which is right between Diesel and Mikes on Elm street. The bike wasn't in great shape but it wasn't a complete piece of crap either. I was blown away that a bike could just sit around, obviously unlocked for so long. People moved it around a bit but it was always within a block or so.

Just a follow-up. Today the police came and took the red bicycle away (men's bike, "Crossroads" written on it). If you think it's yours, or belongs to someone you know, get in touch with S'ville's finest.
