I’m helping my landlord advertise my current apartment, which is available 9/1. I’ve lived here for three years, and the only reason I’m leaving is because all my housemates are off to other areas to pursue jobs, graduate school, live-in relationships, etc. It’s been a wonderful place to live, with a good landlord, and I’d like to see another group of people enjoy this apartment as much as I have.
The place is a 4-bedroom, 1 bathroom, for $2750/month (We’ve used it as a 5-bed for the past two years and the landlord may be amenable to that again, though probably with somewhat increased rent). The location is excellent – it takes me 4 minutes at a comfortable pace to walk down Holland Ave. to the heart of Davis Square and the T. It’s just close enough to the square for convenience, but the street itself has a more residential than commercial feel.
The apartment spans the top two floors of a house, with three bedrooms and the bathroom on the third floor and one bedroom, the living room, the dining room, the kitchen and both porches on the second floor. Everything but the kitchen and bath has hardwood floors. The three 3rd floor bedrooms are quite large, and one has an extra crawlspace closet in addition to the regular closet. The front bedroom has a window seat and looks out to Hodgkins Park. The middle one gets great light and because there’s no house immediately next door, excellent views of sunsets. The back room is the one with the extra closet, and a view of the backyard and trees.
The bedroom on the 2nd floor is smaller but still a decent size for the location. It also has direct access to the front enclosed porch, so the person in this smaller room has the option of branching out to the porch for storage and living space in warm months. Our current resident of the small room uses the porch as part storage, part art studio. The small room also has a nonfunctional (filled-in) fireplace with a gorgeous mirrored mantle.
Also on the 2nd floor is the living room, and the dining room which has one of those built-in cabinet/shelf/display things and nice bay windows. The kitchen is bright and homey, including several shelves we built 3 years ago and will leave for new tenants unless asked to take them down. There’s a pantry, a FREE washer and dryer, a great two-year-old large refrigerator, plenty of cabinet space, and a gas stove. The enclosed porch in the back of the house has lines for hanging laundry and some bike hooks built into the ceiling.
The landlord lives nearby and has been very responsive to our needs and to (infrequent) repair requests. Because he’s renting the apartment on his own without a realtor, there is NO FEE. Because some of us plan to move out during August, we are open to working with groups who need to move in a few days before 9/1, such as the weekend of 8/28-29.
The fine print: No smoking, no pets. First, last, & security. $2750/month.
To contact the landlord for more info & to schedule an appointment, call (617) 312-1965 or (617) 666-4939, or apartmentforrent@yahoo.com
Also, feel free to ask questions about the house, the neighborhood, etc. to me directly, though only the landlord is arranging visits.
