If you're Jewish and looking for a welcoming community to join for Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur, consider Havurat Shalom. The Hav is just outside the Square, on College Ave., and there is no fee for any of our services, ever. (I actually found the Hav when I first moved to Somerville and was going crazy trying to find a place I could afford to attend for High Holidays.)

Tonight's erev Rosh Hashannah service starts at 6:30 (so yeah, I'm posting this a little late). Our schedule for the rest of the holidays is below the cut.

PS - We're a very open, feminist, queer-positive, trans-positive space, which might be of relevance for a decent subset of the Davis area. We're also very accommodating of disabilities and other special needs.

Join Us for the High Holidays!

We look forward to welcoming old and new friends as the Havurah fills
for High Holidays. As always, all services are free and open to the
public. Because there are no tickets, we suggest arriving early if you
would like your choice of seats. If you need to request specific
seating due to a disability, please contact the accessibility
coordinator (via any of the contact information at the end of the
email) and describe your specific needs.

Following is an updated schedule:

This is pretty awesome. I recommend cross-posting this to [livejournal.com profile] b0st0n. They're snarky but i am sure there's some folks there who would benefit.

Thanks for posting:) Haven't been to Shul for years, but this sounds like a place I would consider if I ever felt the pull strongly enough...

You're also quite welcome to join me (and a number of other [livejournal.com profile] davis_square folks) at Temple B'nai Brith on Winter Hill. Some people go to both places.

Thanks for this. I haven't been to any services in many years, but this year I find that I am feeling the pull. A welcoming community, plus free and a short walk from my house? Score.

BTW, I noticed an error in the high holiday schedule table (http://www.thehav.org/servandevents.html). It says Yom Kippur services are on Sat., Sept. 22. :-}
