Does anybody know where I can get wicking for an oil lamp?

Is Ye Olde Davis Square Oil and Gas Lamppe Shoppe still open?

a long shot, but maybe the fireplace shoppe over near alewife? I think it's technically on concord ave, across from fresh pond, between the two rotaries.

also, maybe a craft store?

Where do you get lamp oil? I have a lamp, but no oil.

any any mineral oil. FGMO like for treating butcher blocks, or even baby oil if you don't mind the perfume.

Lamp oil's pretty easy to get; it's just mineral oil, for the first thing. For the second, as much as I hatehatehate shopping there, walmart carries it. but then, I think TAGS might, too.

Cool.

Happily, Walmart is hard for me to get to. It makes boycotting them sooooooo much easier.

Does Target carry it? Walmart is pretty much irrelevant to Davis Square residents.

any pharmacy (including both Rite-Aid and CVS) will carry food-grade mineral oil (in with the laxatives)

Mineral oil that's been specifically branded as "lamp oil"? That I don't know.

I have a half full 64 oz bottle of unscented lamp oil that I have been 'saving' until I figured out where to dispose of it. Yours if you want it (i'm half a block from the cupcake place).

The tag on it says ACE - so I imagine they still sell it and maybe the wicking too.

I know that the art store in Central Square--not Pearl, the one across the street--carries candle supplies, including wicks. I'd try there.

I have gotten both lampwicks and lamp oil at Tags in the past.

City Lights, the antique lighting store across from Kate's Mystery Books on Mass. Ave., is indeed still open (http://www.citylights.nu/).
