I've passed by this place for years without ever going in. What sort of bands play there?

Mostly Brazilian, Salsa, Reggaeton, etc. I used to co-run a Goth-Industrial night there but it got nixed to put in a Rap night.

We had Domina going for the better part of a year, the first part was with the old promoter that really didn't do anything so Victor made Matt run the door and I took over the sound system, was one of the resident DJs, did interior setup a well as the web promotions and Matt took care of flyering the cards that I designed and printed.

At the end we were getting between 40-50 people there every Thursday with a solid roster of guest DJs as well as the residents, not a mean feat for a weekday event in a square with no subway, no real parking, and solid construction.

Matt and I are still working together just in different cities. Darq Salem (http://www.darqsalem.com) is Matt's new venture. I'm still doing all of the print and web ads for him through A Curious Production (http://www.acuriousproduction.com/clubs.html) I just started up Lush Boston (http://www.lush-boston.com) a more electronic night in Everett.

From this week's Somerville News: Tough choices for landmark club. This seems like another case of blaming a business for what its customers do after they leave the premises. And Tom Taylor should be ashamed of the racist statements attributed to him in this article.
