Pest Control Recommendations

It sounds like the pitter patter of little feet, and given I've neither pets not children, and its coming from the other side of the wall, I think I've got pests. Squirrels or Rats or something.

Does anyone have experience with pest control services (other than getting a cat or a dog)? Any recommendations or warnings?

I just had to address the same problem (fortunately, a squirrel). I used Best Pest Control Services in Somerville and they got it taken care of right away.

The owners of Best Pest are my landlords, and they're great. Good people and we've never had a pest problem in the apt.

We had a mouse in our kitchen and so I got a Victor "Tin Cat" live-catch trap. It caught two! We released them a mile or so away and haven't had problems since. I realize they might just be behind the wall, but if you set one of these out (or, heck, borrowed mine) you might catch something if it's mouse-sized. Does it definitely sound bigger than that?

I used Critter Control (in Watertown) to trap 5 squirrels who had set up camp in my attic this summer. They did a great inspection, trapped 'em right on cue, and sealed up where the critters had chewed their way in. Highly recommended.

If the pitterpatter is possibly confusable with children, cats, or dogs, you've got bigger problems than rats or squirrels.

I'm going to have to recommend Do My Own Pest Control. They have been around for a while and have a really good staff of trained people that can show you how to do your own pest control (http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com) just as good as an exterminator, and for WAY less money!
