[identity profile] anomie666.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] davis_square
If you haven't noticed it yet, the [livejournal.com profile] davis_square community is in the LJ "Spotlight" for this week. If you go to the livejournal homepage you can see it listed. They were initially interested in spotlighting our community because of the yard sale we had raised significant amounts of money for the Somerville Homeless Coalition.

They were also interested in featuring journals that use LJ for raising money for charity, such as this one, so if you are raising money for a local cause, please leave a link in the comments.

Thanks.

I was so excited to see that Davis Square was spotlighted, then quickly proceeded to join. Yay Davis!

Congrats on being spotlighted! I was a davis square resident for a few years back in the late 90s. Oh how i miss living so close to Redbones! I'm a former Chester St resident who visits everytime she's back in town.

I never lived in Somerville, but I've always thought Davis seemed an excellent place to live. I have a number of friends who live there. Granted, I do wish that Tufts and the Powderhouse area were a bit closer walk from the T station.. and that the awesome used/academic/rare bookstore over there didn't close totally while I was out of the country.

But anyway, I'm not here to whine, just to say I miss Boston, and think it really cool that you Davisites have your own LJ community here. Very neat. If/when I find the opportunity to move back up there, I'm joining up!

Tufts is only a mile from the square, and if you can't be bothered to walk there there's a shuttle bus service that is pretty reliable during school terms. McIntyre & Moore didn't close totally, it just moved to Porter Square.

Move back, we're cool.

McIntyre & Moore didn't close. They just moved about a half mile, to a smaller store on Mass. Ave. in Porter Square.

Here's a link to the lj-spotlight post. Someone made a comment there in Russian. Can anyone here translate it?

I just noticed they used my 'motto' in the text, too. Woohoo! :)
