I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good voice teacher in the Davis Square area. I've been out of practice for years and would really like to get back into it. All of my previous training has been in a classical (as opposed to pop, broadway etc) style and I'd like to continue that technique-wise, but a teacher who isn't averse to students working on pieces from a broader range than just art songs and arias would be great.

Thanks to all who respond!

I'm afraid I can't recommend one, but I would call the Tufts music department and ask if there are instructors or advanced students who give lessons to non-students. Maybe they'll give you people to contact and ask.

I don't know anything about voice lessons but know that Anita is an amazing singer who has a great deal of teaching experience.

I really highly recommend Michael Barrett. He's a terrific musician and a very patient teacher-- also a really spectacularly nice person. He could meet with you in Union Square (easy trip on the 87) or at Harvard, or at your home, if you would prefer that. I believe he's still taking on new students, and I know that he's open to working on a wide variety of repertoire. You can find his contact info here (http://140.247.118.196/ofa/inst_details.cfm?CONTACT_ID=Voice).
