My friend and I are need of haircuts this weekend, preferably tonight. I know, I know, last minute.

My friend usually goes to Salonika or Amal Niccoli but after Googling to get their number I found this very recent list, http://www.mass.gov/dpl/consumer/press2004/hd063004.htm, and am now wary of going to either considering they had violations (don't know what they are but..)

Does any one have a good place to go in the Somerville or Cambridge area?

Thanks!

I always go to Hair International at 2300 Massachusetts Ave. Their haircuts are $10 and they've never cut my ear off. Also, the two women who own the place are very friendly Chinese ladies.

I like Jane Jetson on Mass Ave. or Diego in Harvard Square...but they tend to charge more than $10.

I tried Judy Jetson's, and had a VERY bad experience.
However, Jamie Star at Hair Collage in Central did an excellent job, so don't let the dumb name deter you. (Also a little pricey though)
Good Luck!

Like $45 plus tip (which by the way is the most I ever pay for a haircut)
I didn't feel like it was the MOST stellar haircut, but I was very happy with it, and most importantly he was really good about listening to what I wanted, and getting it right.
Very good wierd artsy cut.
GOod Luck!

yeah. also makes me wonder what the violations are. i've been going to salonika for a couple of years now and have no plans to stop; kinda would like some more info than that on which to base my decisions.

me neither. it's kind of like better business bureau ratings- you can't get any info about what the complaints are, but even one is like a red flag. i dunno, i guess we can only go by our own comfort level.

Ditto. I was *just* at Salonika about a week ago. I had a FANTASTIC experience so I'm wondering what exactly is wrong.

I've had really good experiences at Judy Jetson's. It might depend on who you get as a stylist, though. I see David.

i just had literally THE most awesome haircut of my life -- but it was in boston near park street. salon euphoria (saloneuphoria.com). my haircut was only thirty dollars and for that i got to eat chocolate and was offered drinks and was given a scalp massage, not to mention an awesome haircut!

Since then, I've heard he does good hair from others as well. Good Luck!
