Inspection Sticker

Hi all,

I just recently moved to Somerville from Southeastern MA and my inspection month is October. Seeing as we have just about a week left in this month I was hoping to get it done around here.

Any auto body places around Davis, Ball, Powderhouse, Teele where I can get my car inspected without it taking forever/a non-creepy atmosphere?

Weekends open would be further preferable (I work full time 9-5 during the week).

THe gas station in Teele did mine. They open at 8 for inspections, if you get there a bit before 8 and are one of the first people you can be out by 8:15.

Avoid the heck out of Jack's Gas. I had a fine experience last year, and a horrendous one this year. I mentioned it to my mechanic who said "That's not an inspection station, it's a rejection station! He just does inspections so he can sell you repairs you don't really need!"

You know, I've had inspections at Jack's for two years now. And yes, the second year I got a rejection, but there wasn't the slightest bit of "let us fix that for you!" I don't think it was something they even do. I took my scarlet R off to my usual Hondar House and got my cracked exhaust pipe replaced. I certainly wouldn't want an inspector to have not spoken up about that.

If I ever had a bad experience I might reconsider - but they're so close, convenient, and fast that I haven't felt any need to try elsewhere.

Agreed, and I recommend the Shell station near Alewife. I think I got it done before noon on a weekend, too.

I like the place just called "Mass Inspection" on Mystic Ave right near the entrance onto 93 north (in Medford, about 2 miles out of Davis). They don't do anything else, so it's pretty straightforward.

That's where I've done mine. They can replace blubs, but they can't do any other repairs. It's usually very fast.

Trum Hill Sunoco on Broadway (a little past Kelly's Diner) does inspections on Saturdays (they open at 8). I would suggest going a bit earlier to wait less -- even with 4 cars in front of mine, I only had to wait about 30 minutes.

I use them as well. They are relatively fast and have never screwed me over.

I got mine done there when I lived in that area. No fuss, good service. They only dinged me for important, quick-fix stuff (replaced a couple of bulbs, etc.)

put it off until nov. 1 (a saturday) that nets you a free month. you won't have to renew again until the end of nov. next year.
