List of local publications

Hi all--

I'm looking for a list of periodicals published locally (which can include the whole metro area). Ideally, the list contains consumer magazines, literary magazines, trade journals, and all other periodicals. Does anyone know if such a list or resource exists?

You could go to http://search.loc.gov, click on "set search limits" (lower right of the main search area), set "publication type" to serial, and then in your main search put all of the towns you're interested in in one of the search boxes, choose "any of these" (it won't have been published in *all* of Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville, you know?), and do "publication info" from the drop-down menu...yes, the Library of Congress's search interface really, really sucks...Mind you when I do this I get 7000+ hits, so you probably want to limit your search more. (The search limits area lets you set date ranges, for instance. Maybe you just want current stuff.) Hopefully you can get something more useful from someone involved in, say, publishing or advertising ;).

Yes, and, come to think of it, the Boston Review is actually published in Somerville too. (Or Medford--it's right near the town line.)
