The FOLK BROTHERS, with Very Special Guest, Saturday 11/1

NOTLOB ACOUSTIC CONCERT SERIES is proud to present two of the most highly regarded traditional folk artists performing today, Jack Hardy and David Massengill, a.k.a The Folk Brothers, and a very special guest, at the Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church, 155 Powderhouse Blvd, Somerville, MA 02144 on Saturday, November 1 at 8:00 pm (doors 7:30).

Suggested donation is $15, $10 for Tufts students. Tickets are available through Brown Paper Tickets - http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/46846 . Through Clarendon Hill Presbyterian Church’s “Peace, Justice and Mission Committee”, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to RESPOND.


The concert will be hosted by Naomi Arenberg, host/producer of Folk on WGBH. Earlier that same day, the Folk Brothers will be guests of Morgan Huke on WMFO, some time between 1-3pm (91.5fm, streaming at www.wmfo.org ), and later of Brad Paul on "Folk on WGBH", some time between 3-6pm (89.7fm, streaming at www.wgbh.org).

Sort of. The original post by notlobmusic was in a serif font and was not lj-cut. I would like his event to succeed, but the OP did not understand anything about how to do an lj-cut or how to post in plain text. So I made a new post with the same information, and then deleted his.

well. it seems from reading faq 75, that for success! you must first:

o edit your post
o determine your mode
o "rich text" for instance. there is no context sensitive or dialog box to find. there IS a rich text tool bar, which includes an icon like which, when highlighting all the text with "select all", works as advertised. hovering over said icon also produces a "tool tip" which indicates that it is for LJ Cut.

o since you are probably NOT in HTML mode, there's not a lot that can be done with advise for this section.

Thanks to ron_newman for re-posting and to perspicuity for perceiving that the instructions could be clarified.

As a non-geek I would be pleased to test any new instructions, hope they will be complete before the next concert, which is in two weeks.

Basically: try to avoid using the Rich Text Editor. If you absolutely must paste into LJ from a formatted document such as a PDF or Microsoft Word, paste into the HTML editor so that the formatting is stripped out. You can then judiciously add a few HTML tags such as <b> for bold, but don't go overboard with this.

The easiest and best thing to do is just select the HTML editor and type ordinary paragraphs of text into it, like most of us do here.

(and, by the way, you asked me a question in an LJ private message, but when I tried to respond to it, LJ told me that your "privacy settings" were set to refuse all private messages.)
